Getting started
Do I need an account?
No. Stash works fully on one device without signing in. Sign in with Apple when you want sync across devices, family sharing, or AI scans (the AI runs on our server so your key and photos never sit on the phone).
How do I add my first bin?
Open a location → tap + → photograph the open bin → review the list the AI produces → Save. Print the label from the bin's page (or later, in bulk). You can also add items by hand or by scanning a book's barcode.
Can I use it in a unit with no signal?
Yes. Everything except a new AI scan works offline; scans queue and finish when you're back online. Sync catches up automatically.
Labels & scanning
The label is printed — the bin got renamed. Do I reprint?
No. Labels encode the bin's permanent ID, not its name or code. Rename, move, or repack freely.
A scan says "No access to this bin".
The label belongs to a location you're not a member of, or one that hasn't synced to this device yet. Ask the owner for an invite link, or sign in and pull to refresh.
Which printers work?
Any printer iOS can see. Labels render as 4×6 in PDFs — AirPrint them, share to a label printer app, or print several bins at once from the bin list. Standard paper plus packing tape works fine too.
AI scans & Pro
I hit the 10-scan limit.
The free plan includes 10 AI scans per calendar month. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited scans, or keep adding items manually and by barcode (both unlimited and free).
I'm Pro but the app says I'm on the free limit.
Open Settings → Stash Pro → Restore purchases, then pull to refresh. Pro is verified with the server; a fresh install or a new sign-in can take one refresh to catch up. Still stuck? Email us with the Apple ID's email and we'll fix it.
What is Deep Scan?
A Pro feature that zooms into each detected item for precise details — book title and ISBN, shoe size, model or serial number — and stores them as searchable metadata.
How do I cancel Pro?
iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Stash Pro → Cancel. You keep Pro until the end of the paid period. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
Sharing & account
How do I share a location?
Location → Members → Create invite link, then send it. The link works for 7 days, once. The recipient signs in and taps it (or pastes it under Locations → + → Join a shared location).
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Delete account. Locations only you belong to are erased with their photos; shared locations are handed to the next member so the family keeps its inventory. Your past actions show as "Former member".
How do I export my data?
Settings → Export inventory (JSON) saves an archive of your locations, bins, and items you can share or back up. Email us if you need photos included.
